Bob Schulze

Began his optician training in Las Vegas, Nevada. Apprentice for two years with independent practice catering to casino management and entertainers. American Board Certification in 1984.

Moved to Dallas in 1985 to join staff of premiere boutique, Optica. Strictly High end products with upscale clientele. Stores in Beverly Hills, Chicago, New York and Texas. Products were often exclusive being shown in the states for the first time. Promoted to manager with transfer to Houston location.

In Late 1987 was hired by French Designer, Alain Mikli to expand brand awareness and sales in the Midwest. Strategically grew territory via exclusive distribution with boutique retailers in major Midwest cities.

Hired by designers Sheila & Alex Vance to grow the brand, BADA USA. Advanced to International Sales Mgr. With duties of overseeing key accounts and working with European Agents to assist accounts which included the finest independent optical retailers in the major fashion cities of North America & Europe.

On September 11th, 2001, boarded a Northwest flight in Detroit at 8:30 am bound for LaGuardia. Events of that day made it clear that extensive traveling was no longer exciting or stress free for self or family.

Opened GLOBE Design & Vision on April 22, 2002 in Holland Michigan

For over a decade, Globe has been exposing West Michigan to world class eyewear designs, many of which have been designed by ex-colleagues.

Nancy O'Brien Schulze

First optical retail job in 1978, Columbus, Ohio, joining Tuckerman Optical.

Helped Tuckerman expand to downtown Chicago market in 1980.

Joined staff of Optica, corner of Michigan & Oak St. in 1981. Promoted to store manager in 1983. Assembled staff that sold premium eyewear to Chicago's elite until moving on to raise children in 1991.

Returned to opticianry with the opening of GLOBE in 2002. A key to the success of Globe by advising in inventory selection, branding & marketing.

Johnny McKenna

Johnny spent several years with the Pearle Vision organization while pursuing his college degree. Johnny has been a valuable part time presence in Globe for two years. His represents youth and the possibility that the craft of insightful opticianry has a chance of surviving. Johnny alas has his dream job of Lead Youth Minister at Engedi Church in Holland at which he is brilliant.

GLOBE's reputation for helping each client find their own 'best glasses ever' is well known. Our hand selected inventory include an array of Classics, Hi-Tech, Rare, Artistic and downright Crazy attracts discerning customers from all over the world. Visitors to Holland can hardly believe the selections available at GLOBE and often compare it to New York and Los Angeles boutiques.
